I hope these two examples give you an idea of the sort of readings you can get from these cards. I was wrong to be so dismissive of their value. In a pinch, they can give you a general overview of an issue or insight into a specific situation. One key advantage to this deck is portability; it will fit in a shirt pocket, coat pocket, back-pocket, pocket-folder, a lap-top carrying case, a pen-&-pencil case, or even a wallet. You can do quick, on-site, spur-of-the-moment readings with this deck. There’s no booklet of meanings you have to consult, because everything you need is already on the card itself. This deck would be a good first-deck to present as a gift to someone who wants to get into card reading, but is intimidated by larger decks. It’s also a good deck for diviners-on-the-go. You may go through the whole symbolomancy section and conclude this is the only symbol-set you need.

Because the authors and illustrators of Wizardology do have some legal rights to the reproduction of their cards, I have developed a free, downloadable set of cards, based on their deck, in the PDF below. Page 2 of this PDF is an optional card-back and page 3 is a carrying pocket I designed for them. As always, I recommend printing them out on card-stock and giving them a couple coats of acrylic sealer before cutting them out and using them. May they bring you wise counsel and helpful insight!

EXERCISES:

1. Do a three-card lay-out, your choice of past-present-future or situation-action-result. Note the results.
2. Do a five-card lay-out, your choice of topic, using one of the spreads I included in an earlier lesson. Note the results. If you like, do all three of the five-card layouts I included in that earlier lesson.
3. Do the six-card Hungarian method I have included in the lesson. Note the results.
4. Now look at your notes for all these readings, and answer the following questions:

In which of these readings do you think the cards worked best?

Would you use these for a card-of-the-day reading?

In your opinion, would they function best as a card-of-the-day deck?

Come back to these readings later. Were they accurate?

Were the future cards on-target, or did they miss by a country-mile?

Did these cards simply state the obvious, or did they give you any genuine insight?

Given the choice, would you rather use another deck for the answers to your questions, or does it depend on the question asked? Can you foresee any situation where you would prefer to use this deck?
