Let’s Start With the Birth Date Number
One of the two most important numbers to know about a person or organization is the number of their date of birth/establishment date-number. Late Numerologist Matthew Goodwin calls this number the Life Path number. Numerologist Nick Newmont calls it the Birth Path number. It describes your basic course in life; how you’re going to live your life, the kind of person you’re going to be, what you’re going to value, what fundamental character traits you’re going to display. This number is calculated by reducing the month of birth to a single-digit number or master number, the day of birth to a single digit or master number, and the year of birth to a single digit or master number, then adding them all together, and reducing that number to a single digit or master number. First, let’s give a run-down of all the basic life-path numbers:
One
Life Path 1s are independent, individualistic, leader-types with much inner strength and administrative or executive ability. They have the potential to accomplish much and attain financial rewards. These are the type of person who can go it alone if they have to. They can forge into new territory fearlessly and if it doesn’t exist, they’ll create it. The downside of life path 1s is their self-centeredness; they come first in their own lives and they will expend any effort necessary to get what they desire.
Two
Life Path 2s are all about cooperation and partnership. They are sensitive to the feelings of others make good friends. They can be diplomatic, sometimes to a fault. They are not as concerned about material needs or status as other numbers and they will deny something to themselves if it means someone else will benefit. They can be shy, reserved, and prefer to stay in the background. The downside of life path 2s is their sensitivity (they can be easily hurt) and a tendency to passivity (others may walk all over them).
Three
Life Path 3s are sociable, friendly, good conversationalists, good with words and often artistic. They are creative, expressive types and good company. Their creativity makes them good problem-solvers. They know how to make others feel at home. They can exhibit a fundamental joy in living which is infectious. The downside of life path 3s is they can be frivolous and occasionally moody.

Very informative and helpful. I had known about the lifepath numbers, but I did not know if I was a 2 or an 11, because I didn’t know if there was a correct or better way of adding up the numbers. Thanks for clearing this aspect up! I’m happy to be an 11. 🙂
Yeah, that double-checking the math is an often-overlooked and important detail in numerology. As great a numerologist as the late Matthew Goodwin was, he never mentioned it that I can recall, and I’ve found it can make a difference.
