HOW TO DO IT

So after all that research, here’s my recommended procedure for egg divination:

  • Remove an egg from the refrigerator and let it warm up to room temperature. Ideally, keep it on your person for at least an hour, so it can attune to your energy.
  • Before dropping it in the water, say a prayer over it. Or set an intention. Either appeal to whatever Higher Power you believe in to inspire the egg to form correctly in the water, or simply tell the egg, ‘show me my fate for my near-future/this year/the next three months’
  • Crack the egg open over the glass and empty it into the water. A clear, non-patterned glass should be used, because you want to be able to study the egg (or egg white) from all sides. Some ovomancers use a wine goblet. As for the proper temperature of the water, in descending order of preference, I recommend the following water temperatures: 1.) very-warm-to-hot water 2.) very cold water 3.) room temperature water. I think a different-temperature water from the room-temperature egg will give you a better and more marked egg white than the egg and the water both room-temperature, but room-temperature is fine, and traditional.
  • Give it time to fully-set. As in, hours. At least six. Even using hot or cold water, the egg white’s formation will take some time to set, and it will change slightly as the water either cools down or warms up.
