Spellcaster conjuring a glowing sphere of visions between open hands

In this lesson we get into the second part of psychic touch. The primary psychic feeling center of the body is centered in the solar plexus. But the hands and sometimes the forehead also serve as sensory receptors for the psychic feeling center. Developing psychic feeling in these locations of the body is the focus of this lesson.

HISTORY

The term ‘psychometry’ was coined in 1842 by a man named Joseph Rodes Buchanan. Buchanan came up with the idea that all things give off an emanation. These emanations are composed not only of an object’s own nature and how it came into being, but it also absorbs and retains an energetic memory of those who have come into contact with it. Buchanan believed psychometry would come to revolutionize and supersede empirical science. He thought psychometry would come to be used alongside standard archaeology in learning about humanity’s past history. Buchanan continued to promote psychometry throughout his life but of course, scientists of the day expressed a great deal of skepticism about it and most today still deny that such a phenomenon has any basis in reality.

He eventually wrote a comprehensive treatise on his theory titled “Manual of Psychometry: the Dawn of a New Civilization” published in 1885. For those interested in delving further, Buchanan’s book is still available through internetarchive.org. People may have psychically sensed things with their hands or forehead far earlier, but because of Buchanan’s work on the subject, psychometry officially dates back to roughly the mid-nineteenth century. The nineteenth century generally was a time when all things paranormal were in vogue, so it’s not surprising psychometry was identified and systemized then.
