The Minerals Approach to Stone Divination

Earth’s many minerals each contain  their own distinct energy or character, so another twelve-stone method uses the energies of the stone itself to represent meanings in the reading. Those meanings are:
1. Amethyst-represents a change in consciousness, thinking or outlook.
2. Aventurine-represents healing, growth and expansion, a desire to take risks. Also money and luck.
3. Blue Lace Agate-represents healing, expression, creativity, communication and seeing and speaking the truth.
4. Citrine-represents gold, riches, wealth, abundance, enrichment, happiness, and resistance to infection.
5. Clear Quartz-represents clarity, clearing away blockages, amplification, energy, and the transmission of energy.
6. Tiger Eye-represents strength, grounding, protection, and seeing below the surface of things.
7. Hematite-is associated with fate and predestined events. It also has grounding and protective qualities and it has a magnetic quality which can draw things, circumstances or people to you.
8. Red Jasper-represents your thoughts and ideas becoming reality and bringing spirit to matter, a very earth-connected stone.
9. Rose Quartz-represents comfort, forgiveness softness, and unconditional love.
10. Snowflake Obsidian-represents the light at the end of the tunnel, the dark cloud with the silver lining, encouragement and hope after a period of trial.
11. Snow Quartz-represents clearing, releasing, purity and enlightenment.
12. Unakite-represents duality, the need for balance, and the reconciliation of two seemingly irreconcilable forces into a harmonious whole.

As you can see from the two different lists, the symbol-stone set, and the minerals set will give you qualitatively-different answers. You may find with practice you prefer one of these two sets over the other. You may decide to meld both sets into one. The more stones you use in a reading, the more informative and nuanced your reading will be. Also, you don’t have to limit yourself to the above-listed symbols and minerals. As you gain experience, you may want to personalize your set by adding symbols or minerals of your own choosing.
Once you’ve compiled or made your set of stones, keep them together in a drawstring bag and use them only for divination. You want a drawstring bag, not a lidded-box, or a jar, because the bag allows for the most randomness and anonymity. You don’t want to be able to see what stone you’re drawing, nor have any difficulty reaching it.
