EXERCISE TWO

If you’re ordering something online, that would be a perfect circumstance for this exercise. Run your hands slowly down or over a list of items you’re considering buying. Note the feelings you get in your psychic feeling center as your hand passes each item. Does it feel good, meh, or bad? What kind of good, meh, or bad? Is it a ‘this would ultimately be a disappointing purchase?’ Is it ‘I’ll have this for a long time’ sort of sensation? Is it a ‘there’s more to this potential purchase than meets the eye’? Is it a ‘this will suffice’ sensation? Or is it just a ‘no, not this item’ sensation?

EXERCISE THREE

This exercise is called ‘billets’ and comes to us from Spiritualist practice. This exercise must be practiced in a group, or with a small group of friends. If you have no one to practice this exercise with, it may be possible to acquire a series of billets individually, if you can get people to submit a billet on an individual basis.

  1. Everyone is issued a small, equal-sized piece of paper, and it should be an opaque sort of paper which can’t be read-through from the back. Each recipient should write their name and birthdate on the slip of paper, and it should be folded at least twice. A person’s name and birthdate are their strongest energy signatures, which is why they’re used for this exercise.
  2. Each participant should fold their piece of paper in the exact same way, so there’s no determining whose paper you’re holding from the way it’s folded. In fact, you may want to appoint one person to do all the paper folding, so every slip of paper is folded the same way. This will help preserve the anonymity of the billets.
  3. After writing their name and birthdate on the slip of paper and folding it in an identical fashion, each participant should hold their folded-up piece of paper against their solar plexus with both hands. Everyone should close their eyes and begin slow, rhythmic breathing, inhaling for a could of four, holding the breath for a count of eight, then exhaling for a count of four. This meditation should be done for several minutes, and as you do it, see and feel yourself breathing your energy into the paper.
  4. After performing this meditation, everyone throws their folded-up paper, called a billet, into a bowl or hat. The billets are stirred up, then each person draws a billet from the bowl or hat but do not unfold it.
  5. Spend another few minutes simply holding the billet in your hands and feel for the energy of the person. Keeping it light and playful, mentally ask yourself some simple questions about this billet and the person’s energy. Does the energy feel warm or cold? Is this person reserved or open? Are they good-natured or serious? What was the mood of this person before meeting today? What is the predominant emotion in their life right now? Do you pick up on any clear personality traits?
  6. Each participant in turn will describe some of the personality traits of the person whose folded billet they hold. Keep your report brief; no more than four to six traits need be reported on.
  7. Don’t worry if you get your own billet! It can be very enlightening, because you’ll be treating it as if it were someone else’s. Because you’re treating it as someone else’s you’ll be more objective about the traits you’re picking up. You’ll get a perspective on yourself and where you are right now that you wouldn’t have otherwise.
