THE ORACLE’S CURIOUS STRUCTURE
The Oracles of Astrampsychus is composed 92 questions and ten answers to each question, for a total of 920 possible answers. But the Tables of Decades have 103 decades, for a total of 1030 answers. 110 of the seemingly valid oracles you will see strewn throughout the answer tables are, in fact, ‘dummy’ oracles, which will not come up as an answer to any of the questions. Also, you’ll notice that the ten answers for each question are not all grouped into the same decade, but distributed amongst the 103 decades in the answer pages. And because arriving at the answer to the question has been structured the way it is, the questions had to be numbered 12 to 103, not 1 to 92. The end result is a book of fate which is easy to use, but baffling to comprehend, and a scholar or two have concluded this must’ve been the author’s intent.
The answers are short, to-the-point, and often bluntly honest. Like most older divination tools, it doesn’t pull its punches. Most of the questions are of the sort which would indeed interest men. Many are ambition based; will I attain X, Y or Z office? Will I succeed? Will I marry-up? Will I be a father? Will my wife deliver safely? Will I be caught in adultery? Should I invest in this business opportunity? Will I prosper in life?
MY ATTEMPT TO USE IT
I looked over the list of questions and chose four to which I most desired an answer (aside from number 13: is it a time to consult the oracle). It took me three tries before the oracle would give me permission to proceed with my questions. You’ll notice from the answer recording sheet on page 32 of the PDF that I’ve made question 13–is now a time to consult the oracle?—the default first question you ask. After all, if it’s not the proper time to consult the oracle, you need to know that first, or the answers you receive will be of questionable validity.
Of the four questions I asked, I dispute only one of the answers, because that answer doesn’t accord with what I intuited about my life from a very young age. It’s possible the oracle is right and I’m wrong, but as always, use your own discernment when using this or any other divination tool.
