‘EGYPTIAN’ DAY-OF-THE-WEEK FORTUNE

Not everyone wants to know the near-term fate of their love life. For those individuals, maybe this next divinatory card game will be more to their taste. It’s considered unlucky to consult this method more than once a month, although given its nature, once a year or even once a lifetime will be sufficient. To play this game, you have to know what day of the week you were born.
- Remove the Tens and the Jokers before starting.
- Each participant will shuffle the deck until they feel they’ve shuffled enough. Holding the deck face-down in their hands, and counting from top to bottom, they will find the card which corresponds with the day of the week they were born. Someone born on Sunday will take the top card from the deck. Someone born on Monday will take the card below that. Someone born on Tuesday will take the third card down in the deck, and so on. Wednesday, fourth, Thursday, fifth, Friday, sixth, and Saturday, seventh.
- They will lay this card face-down on the table until all have shuffled and drawn the proper card for the day of the week on which they were born.
- When all have drawn, the cards are turned face-up and the cards’ meanings are read. Each day of the week will have a different fortune for a high-card and a low-card. For purposes of this divinatory card game, ‘low’ cards are considered Aces, Twos, Threes, Fours, Fives, and Sixes. ‘High’ cards are considered Sevens, Eights, Nines, Jacks, Queens and Kings.
- The requisite fortune will be read for each card, depending on the day of the week they were born. If they were born on a Wednesday and their card is high, that’s the fortune which will be read for that individual. If they were born on a Sunday and their card was low, that’s the fortune which will be read for that person.
- Euphonia’s Corollary: Fortunes change from year to year, as does the day of the week on which your birthday falls. If you were born on a Tuesday, but either your next birthday or your last birthday falls on a Thursday or a Saturday, try reading the relevant high- or low-card fortune for that day of the week. You may find it more relevant or accurate to your life right now. This is my supposition: reading your high- or low-card fortune for the day of the week you were born may be a life-long fortune, whereas reading it for the day of the week on which your next birthday falls will be a specific prediction for your next year of life.
