There are two basic casting fields which are used for bone-casting. They are as follows:
The Parallel Diagonal Lines Casting Method
This simple and very traditional method consists of two parallel lines drawn diagonally on the ground or on a casting map (see the link to the second of the two casting chart sets below). The two diagonal-but-parallel lines should be spaced approximately eight inches apart. Those bones, stones or seeds which fall within these two lines represent elements of the reading close to the inquirer, while those items which fall outside the two lines represent those elements of the question at a distance from the inquirer, both in terms of time and space. This reading is properly handled by starting in the upper left-hand corner of the casting area and working your way down to the lower right-hand corner of the casting area. This reading is a basic past (upper-left-hand corner) present (between the two parallel lines) future (lower-right-hand corner) reading, so only one casting is needed.
