Closing Thoughts

If you decide to bake your own cookies for glucksgreife, modern society has made things easier for you. Many supermarkets have ready-made packages of cookie and pastry dough in the refrigerator case.

Remember–to eat your ‘grab’ is to accept the fortune which accompanies it. If you dislike the future you see in your ‘grab,’ by all means, pitch it outside for the birds and small animals to consume. If do eat it, pat yourself on the back. You are that sterling sort of individual who can courageously face their future, accept it, and digest it.

If you have any cookies left over after this exercise, this might be another good time to play the game of, “If you could change one thing about this reading, what would you add to it?” then, removing the covering from the tray, invite any malcontents to choose one of the remaining cookies which represent to them what it is they would like to see happen in their life in the coming year. Don’t be surprised if they’re all malcontents; who hates cookies?

EXERCISES

  1. Start simple. Buy a box of animal crackers and do a ‘Lucky Grabs’ session for the next month, or the next quarter-year. Grab three. Note which cookies you grabbed and return to those notes at the end of the month, or quarter. Can you see how they could apply to the quarter of a year just passed, or did the grabs appear to miss?
  2. Bump it up. Using your choice of animal crackers or homemade cookie-cutter cookies, do a ‘Lucky Grabs’ session for the next half-year. Grab three. Note which cookies you grabbed. Revisit your notes six months later. Can you see how they applied to the half-year just passed, or did the grabs appear to miss?
  3. Do a traditional ‘Lucky Grabs’ on New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day. Grab three. Note which three. Revisit your notes at the end of the year. Can you see how they applied to the year just passed? Did they make more sense at the end of the year than at New Year’s? Did they miss by a country-mile?
  4. If you invited any friends to join you for any of these sessions, which cookies did they grab? Did their ‘Lucky Grabs’ come true?
