When you are through asking questions and receiving answers, say out loud, ‘I have no further questions. Thank you for answering the questions I’ve asked today/tonight.’ Then extinguish the candles, ideally with a candle-snuffer, instead of your breath. Your breath is the Breath of Life; to use it for extinguishing the candles you’ve been communicating with is bad symbolism.
This is one of those divination methods where you and are not restricted to the ‘three-questions-only’ rule. So long as the candles hold out, you’ve got the floor. This method is best for definite questions or issues to which you need an answer; it doesn’t really lend itself well to the open-ended question, ‘what do I need to know for my life right now?’ It’s also a wonderfully relaxing divination method. You might want to take up this practice as a form of meditation, whether you ask the candles any questions or not. We will deal with full-on fire divination in a later lesson; for now, enjoy candle flame divination!
EXERCISE
1.) Think of a matter you wish to ask questions about, and ask the candles your question(s). Did the candle flames react? If so, what was their reaction? Make note of the candles’ reponse and return to it later. Did the outcome agree with the candles’ responses?
2.) Ask the candles either ‘What is just ahead for me?’ or ‘Is there anything I need to know about my life right now?’ Make note of the response, then return to it later. How useful or accurate was the candles’ answer?
