HOW TO USE IT

Deriving an answer from this one is utterly simple.

  • You need the number of the question you’re asking, and any number between 3 and 18 inclusive.
  • To obtain the second number, the last page of the original book was a cardstock page, with the numbers 3 through 18 in large font. The smaller original page of numbers appears on page 25 of the PDF with the last page of answers, but I have taken the liberty of including a larger set of the numbers on the same page, if you would prefer to choose from slightly larger cards. Whichever size you use, I recommend you print out a copy of page 25 on cardstock for cutting up, because the book says to ‘throw the individual number cards in a reticule, drawing one out of the reticule in response to your question.’ Reticule is just a fancy name for a drawstring-style handbag so any drawstring bag will do. Or you could skip the bag altogether by lay them face-down on a table and drawing a card at random, mixing them up every now and then so you don’t memorize which numbers are where. The key this is, you’re drawing the number blind.
  • Turn to the Table of Answers (on page 4 of the PDF). You’ll look for your question number down the left-hand column, and the number between 3 and 18 you chose in the row across the top of the page. Where the two numbers intersect in a straight line, you’ll find the page number where your answer can be found. The number you drew will be the answer you’re looking for on that page. For the answer pages, you’ll be following the book’s pagination, not the PDF’s.
