And that’s just the Geomancy cards! All these cards could be read by row, separately. The Book of Fate cards on the diagonal from upper left to lower right suggest great unhappiness leading to great unrest leading to a better world for all. The Book of Fate cards from upper-right to lower left suggest the man’s rage will lead to greater restriction and limitation than he would probably like. The Man-Puer-Trisititia Major cards in the top row suggest the immature man actually feels a great sadness, which he covers up by doing things which make him happy. The Minor Fortuna Major-Rubeus Major-Amissio Major cards in the middle row suggest that one solid bit of good luck has someone enraged that, on the whole, they’re still losing in a major way. The Acquisitio Meagre-Amissio Minor-Albus Major cards in the bottom row suggest that loss, privation and hard times have the populace seeing things from a higher, or at least different, perspective.

It’s clear in retrospect this reading is addressing the economic disparity at work in the world today. The immature man could be either the Former Guy or the top .05% in general, but the Populus card I take to mean anyone not in that tiny percentile.  The good news is, the bottom 95.95% will make gains, but only after some trouble and effort. Specifically, getting the .05% to cough-up their fair-share, which, it’s plain, they’re not going to like.

I hope you can see from this example the sort of in-depth reading you can obtain from the Book of Fate Symbol Cards, especially if you pair them with the Geomancy Cards. If reading for a specific someone, you can use the cards Puer, Puer Major, Man, Puella, Puella Major, or Woman as Significator cards. I have not tried using the Book of Fate Symbol Cards in a Grand Tableau reading or a Celtic Cross layout, but if you’re an intrepid soul, have at it and let me know how it goes. I hope you find this further digression on the Book of Fate Symbol Cards to be a helpful divination tool which you can add to your repertoire and use for years to come.

EXERCISES

  1. Choose a question to ask and do a simple three-card reading with the Book of Fate Symbols deck. It can be past-present-future or present situation-action called for-result. What are these three cards telling you? Try using the Geomancy cards as a clarifier deck for the original three-card spread you did. Did it add further nuance to the reading, or was a clarifier deck not needed for your reading?
  2. Try using the Geomancy deck in a three-card reading. What message did you get from the spread? Use the Book of Fate Symbols deck as a clarifier deck for this reading. Did it add further nuance to the reading, or was a clarifier deck not needed for this reading? Did one of these two decks work better as a clarifier deck, or were both about equal?
  3. Do a larger reading with the Book of Fate Symbols deck. It can be a nine-card reading, or Mimir’s Head, which is a seven-card lay-out, or, if you’re feeling ambitious or experimental, the Celtic Cross layout or a Grand Tableau reading (that’ll be four rows of eight cards each). Did the Book of Fate Symbols deck work better in a larger reading than either of the three-card readings? Did you want to use the Geomancy Cards as a clarifier deck, or was the reading fine without it?
