READING WITH THE WOOD CARDS

The Wood Cards lend themselves best to well-defined lay-out patterns, where each position in the spread has a specific meaning. Spreads like the Celtic Cross (with its attendant Wand), the 15-Card spread from Richard Webster’s book ‘Playing Card Divination for Beginners (Lewellyn Publications), the Four-Directions spread used with the Mah Jongg, and the Seven-Card and Nine-Card spreads from pages 118 to 121 in ‘Gypsy Oracle Cards: A Handbook for Interpreting the Sibilla della Zingara’ by M. Jacqueline Murray, all work well with the wood cards. At the risk of redundancy, I’ll include the diagrams I devised for these lay-outs below:
