Card 28-Expectation-Waiting, anticipation, patience, wishes, hopes, dreams. This card’s meaning is clear; now is a time for being still, not acting. This card encourages the inquirer to be quietly observant while waiting for things to develop. This is not a situation in which you can push things into being. You must wait for the universe to act. Traditionally, this card is associated with the idea, ‘three months’ wait.’ In yes/no questions, this card is a maybe.
Card 29-Prison/Imprisonment-This can be actual imprisonment, anything from in-prison-for-life to being-held-overnight. This can also be an asylum, a rehab center, a detention center, a juvenile hall, or a military barracks. More abstractly, it can represent any locked, off-limits, or secured place, so this could also be a bank or a top-secret research facility. It can foretell a time of standstill, where movements are restricted and patience is needed. In yes/no questions, this card is a no.
Card 30-Judication/Legal Matters-This card represents legal matters and all matters in which an official must make a decision. This can be judges, lawyers, court personnel, or even the driver-examiner at the Department of Motor Vehicles. This card could foretell a lawsuit the inquirer is involved in, or will be soon. Judication/Legal Matters carries with it the uncomfortable connotation that one’s fate is not completely in one’s own hands—the inquirer’s welfare is dependent on some official person’s decision. In yes/no questions, this card is a maybe.
Card 31-Short Illness/Bad Health-A period of ill-health for either the inquirer or someone near-and-dear to them. It could be anything from a cold or flu to the measles or the chicken pox. This card could be saying a visit to a health-care-professional is in order, because something is wrong. If the inquirer is in good health, they are encouraged to rest and take it easy–they could be flirting with a bout of ill health if they push themselves too hard. In yes/no questions, this card is a no.
Card 32-Despair/Grief and Adversity/Sorrow-This card plainly says the inquirer is in for some tough times ahead, if they aren’t in them already, or have been in the past. They could suffer a loss, have trouble finding employment, or the employment they have isn’t enough to cover living expenses, which adds stress to their life. Or they may be facing obstacle after obstacle in pursuit of some goal, which is wearing them down. The surrounding cards will say more about what circumstance this card is referring to, and if there is any hope for deliverance from this unhappy situation. In yes/no questions, this card is a no.
Card 33-Concern/Gloomy Thoughts/Murky Thoughts-However they may look to the world, this card is saying the inquirer or someone close to them is personally suffering doubts, worry, confusion, angst, depression, inability to focus, or any one of a dozen other bad states of mind. The cards around this one may say more about what has brought about this state of mind. Look for other cards in the reading to give the inquirer hope, and in the meantime, tell them not to do anything rash. In yes/no questions, this card is a no.
Card 34-Occupation-This card can represent either that which the inquirer does for a living, or an absorbing hobby which demands such dedication, it as though it is a job for them. These are usually lower-to-mid-level positions, not the jobs with the cushy offices, stock-options and golden parachutes when they retire. This is the card of the DIY-er, the freelancer, the outside worker. This card can also represent gardening and physical exercise, such as sports. Often, the work indicated by this card is something the inquirer enjoys, though it doesn’t pay handsomely. In yes/no questions, this card is a maybe.
Card 35-A Long Road/A Long Way/Pathway-This is a long path, a great distance, or a lengthy period of time. Traditionally, this card is called the ‘two years’ patience’ card. Whatever endeavor the inquirer is engaged in it is, to use track-and-field terminology, a marathon, not a sprint. This can be either great distances or a long period of time. No quick results can be expected. The inquirer is encouraged to be patient and persistent. There could be things happening behind the scenes they are unaware of, which will have an impact on the outcome, but these things must happen in their own time. In yes/no questions, this card is a maybe.
Card 36-Hope, Big Water/Distant Horizons-This card represents the inquirer’s fondest hopes and their biggest, brightest dreams. Whether these fond hopes or big, bright dreams ever become a reality–or remain a fantasy–will depend on this card’s position in the reading, and the cards around it. This can also represent actual travel to distant destinations. This is also a card of spirituality and expanding one’s mind, so the inquirer may be encouraged to widen their perspective or nurture their spirituality in some way. In yes/no questions, this card is a yes.
