Every numerologist, professional or amateur, will probably have their own list of books on the subject they consider worth the time, expense and study. Most of the books on this list are books I currently own and consult on the subject.
Godwin, Matthew Oliver. Numerology: the Complete Guide. Volume 1: the Personality Reading. Newcastle Publishing Company: North Hollywood, California, 1981. ISBN: 0-87877-053-4. The first volume of Matthew Godwin’s two-volume master-work on the subject covers basic personality delineation. There are four numbers Godwin considers the ‘core’ numbers in a person’s numerological chart: the birth-date number, which Godwin calls the Life Path Number, the name number, which Godwin calls the Expression Number, the vowels number, which Godwin calls the Soul Urge Number, and the Birthday Number. He also touches on other numbers such as the Growth Number, the Maturity Number, Karmic Numbers and Intensity Numbers. This book and its follow-up volume can come across as a little esoteric or even tedious, as Godwin appears to have written it as a training manual for those learning to become professional numerologists, or at least, good amateurs.
Godwin, Matthew Oliver. Numerology: the Complete Guide. Volume 2: Advanced Personality Analysis and Reading the Past, Present, and Future. Newcastle Publishing Company: North Hollywood, California, 1981. ISBN: 0-87877-054-2. This was the book which taught me how to calculate my personal day, month, and year numbers. It also tells you how to do a progressed numerological chart. A progressed numerological chart can indicate what you can expect for every year of your life, but it’s more involved than a simple natal numerological chart, and more labor-intensive. For those interested, this book will teach your how, and provide you with a sample progressed numerological chart for doing so. A simple subject search (Matthew Godwin Numerology) on the Internet will also yield downloadable software based on Matthew Godwin’s system, which will do the long, hard work of calculation for you. The intriguing thing about your progressed numerological chart is, you can look back in time and identify key events and turning-points in your life. For a fan of the empirical method like I am, that’s a reassuring demonstration about the accuracy and efficacy of numerology.
