Ground Rules for Ouija Board Use:
- Never use the Ouija Board alone. It is far too dangerous. Plus, the more people involved, the more likely you are to get results, because more people are bringing their energy to bear on it. If there’s not enough room for everyone to lay their hand on the planchette, that’s fine; others can be present in the room.
- Decide before you start who is going to ask the questions, and who is going to transcribe both the questions and the answers you receive. Only one person should ask the questions, but it’s okay to have more than one transcriber. You may need to have more than one transcriber, if you get an enthusiastic response through the board.
- Call Down Protection On All Present. This is really important. Call on God/Gods, Archangels, Angels, Saints, Ancestors, All Spirits of Good Will, Your Deceased Next Door Neighbor You Always Got Along Great With, and Everyone Concerned With Keeping The Bad Guys Away, to protect you from any and all evil entities while you are using the board. Encapsulate yourself in the White Light of Protection. Or the Golden Egg of Protection. Hell, cast a circle of salt around the table while you’re at it, if you want. When it comes to using the Ouija Board, you can never have too much protection. Here’s an idea: specify from the start that you only want to hear from Your Own Higher Selves through the Ouija Board. Your Higher Self likely has all the answers about your life that you would want to know about, it won’t harm you, and it’s a fairly trustworthy source, because it’s you. Warning: an evil entity may try to pass itself off as your Higher Self anyway. Use discernment. Your Higher Self won’t try to mess with your mind.
- Don’t take part in any Ouija Board session where the other participants don’t call down protection on all present, or won’t let you do so. Simply refuse to take part. Stand up and walk out of the room, out of the house, out of the building, tent, campfire, what-have-you. If a negative entity comes through the board–and if you don’t protect yourselves first, or specify who you want to hear from, chances are very good you will–the negative entity isn’t going to stop at just the people who were against ‘all that ritual protection rubbish.’ It is going to harass all present. Don’t take the chance. Walk away, saying a prayer of protection for yourself.
- Don’t insult, joke about, openly-doubt, or demand proof from the Spirits. Stow the doubts and the sarcasm. Stifle the smart remarks or the dismissive asides. The spirits will not take such comments or behavior well, and they may show their displeasure in a way which will leave you and all present thoroughly uncomfortable, if not downright terrified. If you use the Ouija Board, take it deadly seriously. Show respect.
- Don’t ask about Death. Seriously, just don’t. Don’t ask when you’re going to die, or how long you’re going to live, or how you’re going to die. Don’t ask about the demise of anyone else at the session either. Just don’t. You probably won’t like the answer, whatever it is.
- If the planchette starts acting goofy, END THE SESSION! The Good-Bye on the board isn’t only for the Spirits. You can use it as well, and don’t hesitate to use it! If the planchette starts going through the letters of the alphabet in order, or the numbers on the board, or making figure eights, or any other odd behavior, assume you have made contact with an evil entity and END THE SESSION IMMEDIATELY.
- If at any time something doesn’t feel right, End The Session. When it comes to using the Ouija Board, let your hypersensitivity and your paranoia be your guide.
- If odd phenomenon happens in the room where you are using the Ouija Board, End The Session. Unless the questioner flat-out asked for a sign, take unsolicited odd phenomenon like things being moved around, or knocked to the floor, or apparitions, or any other weird event, as the work of an evil entity and End The Session. A truly kind spirit will not do anything to frighten you.
- End the session properly. The person designated the questioner should thank the spirits present for their time. All should move the planchette to ‘Good-Bye’ and the planchette should then immediately be removed from the board. It is considered bad luck to leave the planchette on the board when it is not in active use. All participants in the session are also encouraged to leave the room where the session took place, in order to reinforce the message that the Session Is Over.
- Spiritual Hitchhikers. Please be aware, that even if you got out of a Ouija Board session unscathed, you may have unknowingly picked up an entity which affects you, your life, or your environment. It might be a good idea to smudge yourself or your home afterward, and check on the other participants to see if they’ve had any issues. For really stubborn nasty spirits, an exorcist may need to be called.
