TRYING IT OUT
Placing the color chart in the box with a flat-bottomed glass bead, I swizzled the box around in a clockwise direction nine times while asking, ‘What is my Advice?’ I could feel before I opened the box that it had landed in the upper left corner, the candle. Sure enough, I opened the box and there was the glass bead in the upper left corner. Basically, a ‘keep the faith’ message. Placing the stone in the middle of the chart, I closed the box again and while swizzling the box around nine times, asked, ‘What is my Future?’ Again, I could feel the glass bead had landed in the upper left corner. Opening the box, the glass bead was on the candle again. I interpreted this as ‘the future looks hopeful’ but I was starting to get frustrated. Was it always going to land in that corner? I shook the box a little more gingerly for the third question, ‘What is my Fear?’ and the glass bead landed on the voodoo doll. So either a fear of being the target of ill magic, or simply a fear of being manipulated. Understandable, but I didn’t think that was my biggest fear.
I found a flat, non-shanked green button in my craft supplies and tried all three questions again. This time I had much better and more accurate results, especially with the black and white chart. With the green button and the black and white chart, my Future was the Ghost, a visit to a haunted house, an actual paranormal event, or a spirit may try to get my attention. My Advice was the Ominous Sign and the Grim Reaper, which I interpreted as ‘stop always fearing the worst! You’re always anticipating a worst-case scenario and it never happens. Think positive!’ To this, I plead guilty. My fear was Hygeia’s Cup, which I interpreted as a fear of having to take a regimen of pharmaceuticals some day, the bane of aged people everywhere, so that is definitely a fear in the back of my mind, since I want to shun them if possible.
I end my experiment with Halloween House with a few recommendations. Number One, you want a casting object that will slide around easily in the box, but not too easily. Number Two, your casting object, whether it’s a stone or a button, may land on more than one square on the casting chart. In those cases, you’ll have to decide if you want to: a.) close and shake the box again b.) decide which square’s image more addresses the question in your case or c.) consider that your answer is actually a combination of the squares.
